Something I learnt this summer:
You can eat avocados with a spoon and it’s very good. Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit then fill the hole that is left from the pit with balsamic vinegar, flavor with salt and pepper. And enjoy!

To ensure that in there is still enough food for future generations (genetic diversity of the world’s food crops) a vault was built on Svalbard to store the seeds of many plants. In case of climate change, war or lack of resources and thus the loss of seeds, the seed collection from Svalbard can be used. So far they have gattered more than 50’000 seeds. The building has received several prices and should survive plane crash, sea level rising and nuclear war.
It’s good to have friends abroad. And it’s also good to have a favorite animal in each country. I am talking about Zambia and guinea fowls. Sometimes I send some chocolate to my dear friends in Zambia. And I always get something back. Because I fell in love with these nice but stupid bird guinea fowls it has always something to do with them. This time it’s a guinea fowl cup.
Thanks!

This book saved me this summer during my field survey. It’s not only a very helpful field guide with all important plant species from Scandinavia but it’s also a book with lovely drawings. When I look at the book I wish I was a painter making drawings for floras.
The sun was shining and I went on a walk with my camera. It was worthwhile because the light of the sinking sun was brilliant.
Today I had lunch at Palmhof in Zürich. This is a simple but very cute restaurant close to ETH. You would probably never enter the building. But it’s worth it! One nice gesture is that you get a bottle of tap for free. So everybody is drinking water :-)

Last Saturday we organized the second RoundAbout. We invite about 10 people and cook. The idea is to meet new people and have a nice evening. We had a great night thanks to all the guests. Next RoundAbout will be sometime in March. If you want to come don’t hesitate to contact us.
A garden in winter time might be a bit sad. But when the sun is shining you start remembering what will happen in spring. And that’s something to look forward to.
