Pretty cool light when you manage to get up very early in the morning!
We have made it to the USA. A bit scared how the US custom would treat us, we queued up to take the ferry to Port Angeles. But everything was very easy. The scanner for our passports did not work and we were lucky to be able to stay in the air-conditioned room for a while. Everybody was very nice and we were allowed to enter the US.
Port Angeles is a small city but right at the edge of the Olympic National Park. We intend to stay here for a while. The park is huge and offers many scenic hikes. Today we walked for hours, saw birds and chipmunks, but just when we came back to the car park there were two blacktail deers.
PS: by the way the monkey eye problem is solved and his name is Gromit.
We found a new companion. He is very small and not totally finished yet. He would like to have a proper pair of eyes but so far I have not found any that fit him. And he also needs a name.
I found the knitting pattern again on fluff and fuzz and the inspiration to take him along on our journey here. We are waiting for better days for the monkey.
We have spent the last three days in the wild. An hour drive from Campell River is Stranthcona Provincial Park. We found the best water, a huge lake, snow covered mountains, trees, and lot’s of animals and plants. Back in civilization we are stocking up our supplies and will drive South and to the western side of the island. Tofino is our goal for tonight.
We picked up our Van „Sophia“ yesterday and have driven up the Sunshine Coast. It’s really sunny up here! Right now we are waiting for the ferry to take us to Vancouver Island. Yes there are a lot of ferries here and everything, the ocean, the pine trees, the rocks and the clouds remind me very much of Norway. Everything is just twice the size.
Check out the other side of the story from Mr. Lovely.
We have safely arrived in Vancouver and are staying in a lovely guesthouse in the middle of the city. It has been raining half of the time, but what do you expect when you go to a rainforest? Just now the weather is changing and the sun is coming out. We will stay in Vancouver for a few more days and then we are on the road for a month.
I am on a short, unexpected trip in Paris. I know, I have just been away, and I should get ready for my important talk next week. But I got a chance to go to Paris and figured I can also practice in Paris. Anyway a change would do me good. So here I am, not only enjoying the city but also getting ready for next Tuesday.
I spent some days in Montenegro in Virpazar near Skadar Lake. I went hiking, with a group of Biologist. Everybody was interested in some other flower, bird, snake or anything made by nature. Therefore, some people of the group got lost after 30 min wondering of looking for giant spiders. After ages the group was complete again and we could start climbing the mountain in 35°C.
Everyday we went swimming in the lake. The water was very warm but still refreshing.
Montenegro is a beautiful country with very friendly people and worth a visit. Unfortunately it was so hot that I only managed to make a few good shots.
