Fuerteventura
Starting the year in the sun was a good strategy last year and we decided to repeat it. Yesterday, we arrived on Fuerteventura. Lately, we have discovered Airbnb and are living in house in a small village called Camino Casillas del Morales, far away from all the tourist. We cannot see the ocean, but have stunning volcanic landscape around us. It was a bit difficult to find the place, since it seems that you can pick any house number you want for your house. Next to 28 is 109 and then 74. No structure at all. Last night we went to the beach for a wonderful sunset.
Today, we drove westwards, over a mountain pass to a small village called Betancuria. This was Fuerteventuras capital until 1834. It was built hidden between the mountains to escape attacks from European and Moroccan pirates. Today, it’s a cosy place with white houses and well attended gardens and is worthwhile to visit. After that we visited Ayju, a small village at a stunning beach with black sand.
Making art
I’m making some graphs in R and suddenly I realized it looks more like art than science. To make it a bit more real, I added som colour and here is a brand new Halbritter, unfortunately not for sale.

Filmstar
My career has changed dramatically in the last weeks. Instead of doing science I’ve become a movie star. Last week, I recorded statistic videos in a studio in Kristiansand and on the weekend I produced a video that goes along with an application from the Royal Geographic Society to get a Landrover for the next field season.
Here is the video for the application!

Life
Winter can come
I do like all seasons and going from summer directly to winter would be too quick. Autumn is great. I like the colouring of the leaves, drinking warm tea inside and staring knitting again. But this year, winter cannot come fast enough for me. The reason is that I have a pair of brand new ski’s and I can’t wait to test them.
Last season I was introduced to off piste skiing (outside the slope) in deep and fresh snow. This was lot’s of fun, because we there was plenty of snow in western Norway. I know, I have been complaining about the snow in the mountains all summer, but now I wish for a lot of snow again, and very very soon!
Travel diary
When we traveled to Pacific Northwest some years ago, I kept a travel diary. I did not write everyday, but I took the time to write a couple of pages every now and then. I wrote and made drawings (e.g. our travel route), lists and put pictures in the diary. I love to take the diary out of the shelf and browse through it from time to time.
