Copying melaniegaranin

Water colour paintings can be amazing and I am trying to learn to draw. I would not say I am very talented, but drawing is something that needs practice, practice and more practice. Also, I am not very good at freestyle drawing, and therefore I am often looking for drawings that I like and then I copy them. And I’m very good at copying :-)

My newest discovery is melaniegaranin. She is an illustraror and makes (simple,) beautiful drawings. I love that she can draw anything with a very few lines, but exactly the right amount of detail. You can follow her on instagram and at the moment she is posting one animal a day combined with very cute stories about the animals.

I also love her work, because she is often drawing horses, dogs and basically anything with eyes. In my opinion, everything can have eyes!

Christmas gift

For the last couple of weeks I have painted and water coloured a 23 page story. And it has become a little book. The story is an adventure of Lisa and Tim and their friend the blue butterfly, who is kidnapped and locked away in the highest tower of a castle. The story is full of adventure, magic creatures and suspense. Will Lisa and Tim find the blue butterfly again, and who is going to help them?

It is a Chirstmas gift for my nephew and nice.

PS: In case you are still looking for a gift for a little fellow, let me know and I can send you a pdf of the story. It’s in Norwegian!

Chocolate made in Bergen

Bergen Kaffebreneriet has started to produce their own chocolate. They have three types, named after the country the cacao beans are from. Kongo is a classic chocolate, with cacao beans from Virunga National Parc, where the endangered gorillas live. Den Dominikanske Republiken is made from fair trade cacao and contains fruits. Madagaskar tasts of citrus fruit and has been given away already.

I like the design and look forward to try them.

Chest of drawers

This is our new chest of drawer. It was built some time ago, but the sheep and pig buttons have just arrived. The whole chest of drawer was carefully planed, made and painted. It is specially designed to fit under the big TV screen. The drawers are taken from an IKEA cupboard. The lower drawer is shorter than the upper drawer, so that the plug socket on the wall does not come in the way.

So now we have a sheep and a pig in the living room, watching us, watching GoT.

The shelf

I have a shelf! Saturday started with shopping at the timber supplier and then picking a colour. It was clear from the beginning that it had to be orange, but we went for a bright orange.

Then planks were cut, sanded and painted. And we ended up spending Saturday night painting, making pizza, waxing skiis, playing guitar and singing. Tonight, the planks that had been painted twice on both sides were dry and could finally be put on the wall. Thanks for helping make such an awesome shelf!
