Guide to Høgsete

Høgsete is a field site close to Flåm in western Norway where I do field work. It is a 30 min walk up a steep hill and through forest. It’s tricky to reach, because there are a lot sheep trails and more than one person have gone lost trying to find it (including me).

Amy took pictures, while Francesca, Nicola and me showed the way. I hope nobody will ever get lost again. The guide can be downloaded here: GuideToHogsete

Hiking on Vidden

Li told me that when she learnt English in School they learnt the work „hiking“. And nobody understood the word. The teacher had to explain what hiking was and that other cultures like to do other things in their free time.

So I thought it was a good idea to show her what Norwegians do on the weekend: Hiking on Vidden.

Sheepview meets google

Sheepview360 is a project to bring the Faroe Island on Google Street View. Durita who initiated the project has mounted cameras on sheep that walked around and take pictures from all over the islands.

Now google has reacted and has send cameras to take pictures all over the Faroe Islands. But the approach is different from other places. The pictures are taken from the back of horses, from kayak and even a wheelbarrow.

Moving

This week I have moved twice. I have moved house and live now in the city centre. But I have also moved one floor up in the office (upgrade!). The view is still distracting me from working… but I hope this will go over soon.

My new home is an old wooden house 5 minutes walk from the city centre of Bergen. I have never lived so close to the centre and I like it so far. I felt it’s time to get a place for myself and I enjoy my peace very much. It’s an old house and I hear what’s going on upstairs. The kids like to sing, which is nice, but their taste of music is less.

Mari, I just wanted to say thank you for wonderful the time at Landås with you. It has been awesome and your welcome at (almost) any time here.
