Sorry it is a bit late but here are some pictures from England, where I spent a few days looking at castles, forests, sheep and drinking cider.

Brunch
Brunch is a meal that you eat in the late morning as a combination of breakfast and lunch (Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary). My favourite meal is a late breakfast. There are probably many good places to have a brunch. But here are some I have found:
– Hotel Restaurant Baseltor in Solothurn. Here you get a traditional Swiss brunch in the nice hotel in the old town of Solothurn.
– Glenwood Restaurant Campus in Eugene (OR). If you ever go to Eugene in the United States this is the place for a real American brunch. Reservation at the weekends recomended.
– Gudvangen Fjordtell. In this remote but beautiful place we had brunch after camping. The place is a wooden house with a lot of glas and you get a good view of the fjord. Very traditional Norwegian brunch.

Water world
A winter day in Tromsø
On a sunny day like I had last Friday in Tromsø I understand why people can live so far up in the north. One such day makes up for a lot of bad weather. They stop work early (earlier than 3:30) and jump on their ski’s. Really bad I didn’t have time for that but I have to come back one day.

I finally reached my northern most site. For all who don’t know I will do a transplant experiment this summer where I will plant species from Switzerland and Norway to 5 different places. And two of them are in Norway and I am visiting them at the moment. But plantig is far away here. It’s still deep winter. About 1m snow, it’s still snowing and temperature is around 0°C. But the days are getting longer: 5:30 – 20:00, top that!
Sun and snow
Another day in Trondheim. The sun was shining in the morning when we had a look at the dom. We had a chat with the gardener at Dragvoll later and met an exchange student from ETH. I hope everything is ready for the experiment now. Tonight we will travel to Tromsø.
Trondheim
After 13 hours I arrived in Trondheim, home. Norway is always a coming home. There was snow, but it was not very cold. I enjoy a week back in winter.
After the work for my project we enjoyed a walk through the city between heavy snowfall and sunshine.
