ferm – LIVING

Ferm Living is a Danish design company. They make very nice wallpapers, wallstickers, deco and also kids stuff. I found the octopus smiling at me in a shop in Trondheim and had to take him home.

Pictures are from the home page.

Candle light with stones

I saw this idea in a  magasin (Ukeblad). Very easy to do yourselfe. You just need a stone, some colour. Use as many colours as you like and draw some flowers on the stones, it will look nice. And put the candle on top.

Back in the country

Today I arrived back home after a rather long journey. This time I’d decieded to take the country way. It’s fun but tiring. After a last very sunny day in Håvoll, bathing, burning wood at the beach and grilling toast on the fire, we went to Oslo. The world was still ok in Oslo and we had a few wonderful days. Then I said goodbye to Mr. K and left to collect some more plants. I am pretty good at spoting places to find my plants by now and I’m satisfied with the catch.

Now I’m back again and very happy too. After a month in the north it’s good to be back again. Cheers!

The adventure goes on

We’ve spent the last week in Håvoll at my aunt’s place. There is no internet and therefore it’s been so quiet here. We have been fishing, relaxing, spent some time at our favourite cafe the Phønix and visited Ålesund. But last night we took the bus to Oslo. It’s rainy but there is a lot going on and we look forward to explore Grünerlökka, Grønland, Frognar and a lot more…

Only possible in Norway

Yesterday we took the train south to Mosjøen our „adopted home“. The train had left 7 minutes late, the landscape passed by and we were enjoying the ride. Due to technical problems the train had to drive very slowely up the mountain and delayed even more. The thing is that there are only a few trains on this route each day and if you don’t catch your connections you won’t get home.

Suddenly the train stopped in the middle of nowhere. A girl and the conductor went to the door, the girl jumped out and climed up the hill to the road. Few seconds later a bus arrived. He picked up the girl. The train had contacted the bus and they had arranged where to meet so the girl could get on the bus which brought her home. Pretty nice I thought. And would anyone had done that in Switzerland…

Going on

Today was our last day on the Lofoten. As you might have picked we really liked it here. The weather is great and we are not doing very much which is good for a while. I could imagine to stay here for a bit longer. But always if you get used to something you should change it. So that’s why we’ll take the boat to the main land tomorrow and go on.

Mission accomplished

One reason we drove all the way to Å was that I wanted to find a plant called Plantago lanceolata. Last year during the field survey in Scandinavia I found Plantago in Oslo but not further north. It should occur as far north as Bodø. The distribution maps show one spot on the Lofoten. So this was the excuse to go there. Yesterday we had wondered around but had not found a single plant. Today we started a new attempt to find the plant. I had checked the maps for days to find the right spot.

One of the great things about Mr. K is that he always finds the best parking spot. If we go to a concert in the City he will always find a spot just outside the club. So today when I tried to guide him to the right spot to find the Plantago he suddenly stoped the car on a sandy strip next to the road. I jumped out of the car and landed right on a Plantago. What a surprise. How does he do it?!?

The end

We have passed mountains and beaches, real white sand beaches (imagine!) and reached the end. The end of the road. The end of the Lofoten. The place is called Å (say „O“). We will stay here for a little while and then take the boat to Bodø.
